Artificial Intelligence, or AI, means different things to different people, particularly in legal practice. It includes everything from interactive software forms to e-discovery algorithms, and is intertwined in current policy issues to increase delivery of legal services to underserved constituencies. At the international level, cross border application of AI raises questions as to the unauthorized practice of law and supervisory responsibilities, as well as competency, among others. This program surveys the field and highlights various of the ethical issues of which lawyers must be aware as they increasingly avail themselves of these new and developing technologies.
